SOAK AWAYS

RAINWATER SOAKAWAYS

With an increasing awareness of sustainability and eco-friendly services, it is important that you keep your wastewater and freshwater systems separate to prevent contamination.

Foul water and your fresh water should be on separate systems. This means your rainwater and surface water will either be connected to your storm drain system or a soakaway

  WHAT IS A SOAK AWAY?

A soakaway is designed to disperse either wastewater from a private sewerage system or rainwater or surface water from your garden.

Any installations will be determined by a percolation test to identify the size of the soakaway and the soil’s suitability in the proposed area. Our engineers are fully trained on measurements and depths from buildings boundaries, to identify the best location for your soakaway and to make it as long-lasting as possible.

Rainwater soakaways

A rainwater soakaway holds collected surface water in a container in the ground until it can naturally soak into the surrounding soil. It is a low impact way of ensuring the main sewage system isn’t overwhelmed by excessive volumes of water from bad weather and prevents the land around your property from flooding or draining poorly during hard rain.

Wastewater soakaways

Wastewater soakaways discharge treated water from your property before it goes back into the system. This is traditionally for properties or businesses that are not able to connect to the main sewer system and can be used in conjunction with a septic tank to assist in safely removing waste.
